Hi I'm Liz and welcome to the inaugural post of my blog "from career path to life path- no one got me off my ass but me.
I want to share this wild, sometimes fast sometimes slow, career/life ride I've been on for 24 yrs. I hope to have fun sharing my story but also help you find your story.
Some of us make career/life changes on purpose and some of us- ok MOST of us- find ourselves reacting to changes made by other people. Thats ok! I've done both and that's what this is really about.
Each time I post I want to ask YOU a question. it doesn't have to be a lifechanger in itself. Let it roll around in your head with all the other craziness in your day and lets see what happens!
So here we go!
Today I woke up, walked my dog and got ready for work.
Im a self-employed hairstylist, part time dog walker, part time petsitter, once a week housekeeper, slowly starting a marketing biz with a friend, selling ads and helping market a start up mag called Scalawag, and I design and sew reusable grocery totes called live your ideals, AND i just started clio and matty with a friend- designing and sewing baby blankets, burpees and bibs. seriously.
Slight contrast from my original CAREER PATH!
I was a hairstylists who became a trainer, manager, marketer, mentor and hair salon jack of all trades. I LOVED IT. Until I finally got everything I wanted in my career at one time. HORRIBLE. How did I get here? What just happened?!
Don't worry I'll fill you in on details later but suffice it to say- it didn't last.
BOOM!
so in short -that's the day when the rest of the story started. I didn't get me off of my ass all at once but I've really grown and that's why the question today is "did you do anything YOU wanted today?" I did!
also just for fun i want to share little moments that i now enjoy (instead of totally miss or freak out about) and they're probably totally unrelated to the rest of my story hahahaha ;-)
*one day i was doing my dog walking job and i could see and hear a man ranting. he was clearly not in the same world as me ;-) As we got closer i realized he was standing on a landscaping rock and TOTALLY babbling UNTIL i got there. He turns his head and looks straight at me and yells" hey white lady! i need fourteen dollars for a slice a cheese"... Yep. Ok gotta go. The dogs didn't even notice so i figured this is the new me. never would have seen that in a huge salon at Polaris Mall...
so what I really want to know is...did he get his cheese?
